GAA PRESIDENT AOGÁN Ó FEARGHAIL LAUNCHES DUNGANNON CLARKE’S CENTENARY EVENTS
Uachtaráin Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, (President of the GAA) Aogán Ó Fearghail visited Dungannon on Tuesday 14th June to launch the Centenary events for Dungannon Thomas Clarke’s GFC. He was met on arrival by Clarke’s officials and a large crowd was in attendance. Father Seamus White and Tyrone County Board Chairperson, Róisín Jordan joined in the welcome. The event was also attended by representatives of the other three Dungannon GAA Clubs – Eoghain Ruadh Hurling Club, Naomh Treasa Camogie Club and Aodh Ruadh Ladies Football Club.
Vice Chairman, Dungannon Thomas Clarke’s GFC, Michael Corrigan said,
“Dungannon Thomas Clarke’s GFC are proud to launch our events to mark the Centenary of the club in 2017. The club is honoured to be Thomas Clarke’s hometown club and to be the only GAA club in the world to bear his name. 2016 is Thomas Clarke’s Centenary and 2017 is the Centenary of the Thomas Clarke’s GAA Club. These events are the beginning of a very busy and exciting 18 months and I encourage you all to get involved.”
Art McRory, former Tyrone manager and Dungannon Clarke’s Development Officer said,
“It is many years since a serving President of the GAA visited our club. We are delighted that Aogán could take time out of his busy schedule to help us launch our Centenary events. It is indeed an honour for the Clarkes to host the President of our association. This is the launch pad for a very exciting time for our club and exciting time for the GAA in Dungannon.”
Uachtaráin Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Aogán Ó Fearghail said,
“I am delighted to be here in Dungannon to help launch the Centenary events of the Dungannon Thomas Clarke’s GAC. Thomas Clarke had a vision for our country and the Clarke’s club has a vision for the promotion of the GAA in Dungannon.”
Mr Ó Fearghail went on to state that he had no doubt that Dungannon Thomas Clarkes would rise to the challenges in the months and years ahead to strive and achieve the vision it has to promote and re-develop the club through its activity, organisation and ambition. Dungannon Clarkes, he added, ‘had a wonderful past and a brilliant future’.
The Club would like thank everyone who attended and welcomed Mr Ó Fearghail.
